Reading great books, imbibing delicious beverages, and honing our rhetorical swords on one another since 2017.

Headquartered—so to speak—in Raleigh, North Carolina, the BFBCR meets once a month to discuss a book chosen by one of our members. Always thought-provoking, sometimes solemn (way to go, Geoff!), occasionally raucous (thanks, Lawrence!), these meetings usually last two to three hours. To date, not a single meeting has ended in fisticuffs or even hurt feelings despite liberal amounts of freely available beer, whiskey, wine, and pre-mixed fruity alcoholic cocktails (ahem, Jim!)—to say nothing of the culinary spread, which somehow always includes at least one home-made dish or condiment.

Our members are dedicated readers who in addition to their various professional and personal concerns have always been in love with the written word. While our tastes vary, our commitment to good friends, good books, and the cultivation of lazy consciences would make even Mark Twain proud. At present, we are not in search of new members; however, we are never completely disposed to turn away a fellow lover of literature.
